What are the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis? That is a question that is asked often by women who suspect they may have this common problem
The symptoms of BV can range from being non-existent right up to being quite “in your face” and embarrassing.
Some women don’t experience any signs (around 50% of women!) whilst others will get all possible complications relating to the condition.
The main signs and symptoms of bacterial vaginosis are:
1. Fishy Odor
The smell is more noticeable after sexual intercourse and after a period.
2. Abnormal Vaginal Discharge
The discharge normally has the characteristic fishy odor mentioned above. It normally has a white milky texture, but is sometimes gray in color too. It can be watery, thin or foamy.
3. Urination Pain
Some women experience pain or burning when urinating.
The signs of bacterial vaginosis can often be cryptic, but if you have a strong fishy smell coming from the area, then there is a good chance that you have BV and that you’ll have to undertake a course of treatment and a long term prevention plan.
